International Congress: Mobility and Road Safety in an Ageing Society

The congress will focus on future aspects and solutions of mobility and transport versus safety and quality of life in the context of an ageing society.

The main Topics of the Congress are:

A Holistic View on Ageing
Demographic, psychological, sociological and medical aspects of aging, including functional limitations, diseases, medication, behavioural adaptations and physical vulnerability.

Mobility Related Characteristics and Incidence of Accident for Elderly People
The requirements specific to elderly people for transport/mobility that gives them access to activities and services for maintaining their health and well-being and enhancing their quality of life. The agenda also includes a discussion of facts, figures and data on the characteristics of accidents involving elderly people.

Traffic Safety Measures - Technological Responses and Infrastructural Measures
Urban planning and environmental design, roadway design, design of signs and signals, vehicle design, assistive technologies, and gerontechnology.

Policy Responses and International Best Practices
The congress will touch on awareness-raising, education and training to hone skills in handling risk as well as mental training for the elderly and training for returning drivers and riders.
There will be a discussion of driving licence models and methods for assessing people’s fitness to drive, including comparative impact assessments on safety.
Lastly, the subjects of simulation, the role of physicians and self-evaluation and assessment will be explored, along with assessment methods for medical and mental parameters.
