FEHRLopedia

The FEHRLopedia has been designed as a portal to road infrastructure knowledge.  The system links relevant content from numerous reputable sites on the internet.  Users can search for information using different selection criteria; including project type, target end user, and technical scope.  Users can also add new content and rate existing content according to the usefulness of the links.

P2R2C2   0 3496 04.05.2011
Anticipated climate change in Europe, north of the Alps, over a 110 year period from the mean climate in 1960-1990 to the mean climate in 2070-2100 was estimated using two emissions scenarios and two computational approaches. The likely impact of the resulting changes in climate was then estimated for a range of pavements and pavement-related infrastructure in order to determine the consequences for road owners. The predictions of climate change showed that there is considerable local variati ...[more]
RIMAROCC   0 3297 04.05.2011
The objective of the Rimarocc project is to develop a common ERA-NET ROAD method for risk analysis and risk management with regard to climate change. The purpose is to support decision making concerning adaptation measures in the road sector. To facilitate the work of end users the method will be based upon, or at least be compatible with, general existing methods for risk analysis (and management) within the ERA-NET ROAD funders and other relevant methods. The project is focusing on Risk Analys ...[more]
SWAMP   0 3300 04.05.2011
The project deals with drainage and drainage systems on or near road network in lowland areas e.g. The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and UK. The result of the project is guidelines on two levels: primarily on the overall level with purpose of finding places on the existing network which should obtain high priority in order to get best use of limited financial resources. Secondly guidelines on a more detailed level when preliminary studies and decisions should be taken, and when necessary ...[more]
Climate Change Vulnerability and Risk Assessment of Transportation Infrastructure   0 3748 21.05.2012
In 2010, a partnership of New Jersey state agencies and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (the “New Jersey Partnership”) was awarded a grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to conduct a Vulnerability and Risk Assessment of transportation infrastructure from the impacts of climate change. The primary objective of this project is to pilot FHWA’s Vulnerability and Risk Assessment Conceptual Model (chart) using New Jersey as a case study, providing feedback for the ...[more]
Optimising Road Maintenance (OECD Discussion Paper No. 2012-12)   0 3200 27.05.2013
Road maintenance optimisation modelling is usually undertaken to assist road agencies plan and budget for their maintenance activities. It can promote best use of available funds by helping determine the types and timings of treatments to be carried out. At a higher level, it can help determine appropriate levels of maintenance funding. This paper has identified two distinct types of underfunding compared with the unconstrained optimum. The first concerns the present value of funds made availa ...[more]
Procurement and Contract Design in the Construction Industry … not one size fits all   0 3226 27.05.2013
This paper considers the choice between different approaches to contract for the construction and maintenance of infrastructure projects. The need to control for user costs over the life cycle of an asset is demonstrated to be a core aspect of contract design. The more likely it is that a certain problem in the current infrastructure could be sorted out in several different ways, the more strongly should the tendering agency consider innovative design alternatives such as performance contracts o ...[more]
